The Calm Before (After?) The Storm

I'm sitting here this morning in a perfectly peaceful quiet house.

I realize how much I take it for granted.

Even though I LOVE LOVE LOVE spending evenings like this.....

I follow so many blogs that are about raising young children... and I always think it is so interesting that the moms try so hard to get so many things done while the children are sleeping.  I've always thought that I would spend that time sleeping as well.

I clearly know NOTHING.  :)

After a night full of non-stop fun and festivities... I found myself getting up early to enjoy the peace of the house and get some things done for today's party.

Like reading blogs and blogging.  Ha!

I've never been one for chores.  I will save my energy for when Kev gets up...so I can run around and look busy and appear to be working super hard.

I'm sure he will be in awe.

Except for the fact that this year we decided to take it easy.  I've approached this 4th of July ( held on the 3rd) party with a laid back attitude.  This year was not the year for decorations, themed plates/cups/napkins, specially shaped ice cubes, tiny flag sprinkles, and patriotic karaoke.  This year was more for weddings and family and job changes.

Kev is grilling the burgers.  And I  made ONE side dish.

The End.

Our fabulous guests are all bringing things to add to the cookout.  And rumor has it that there might even be some freshly caught fried fish!

That is almost too much for me to handle.

Last night kicked off our festivities with the kids coming out for a sleepover.......which caused this guy to become the biggest kid of all...

I stayed safe ( and dry ) by sitting on the porch... You never know when things are going to get out of hand....

Even if they are willing to smile sweetly for the camera....

And with that I must go.... because Kev just appeared in the doorway and I  need to make myself useful.
